In the boiler room in the basement on Niels Steensens Vej in Gentofte, a BIOCAT KS 11000 limescale protection system has been installed by Kornerup Ejendomme to address persistent limescale issues. Kornerup Ejendomme manages several residential rental properties and places strong emphasis on efficient operations and maintenance. Casper chose a chemical-free solution
The municipality of Gentofte has very hard water, which leads to significant problems with limescale deposits. Casper Holst Skov, building superintendent at Kornerup Ejendomme, explains:
“The water here contains a lot of limescale, so we installed BIOCAT to tackle the problem. We chose this system because it stands out by not requiring salt. Instead, it uses a special granulate that only needs to be replaced every five years. No maintenance and no hassle carrying heavy bags of salt down to the basement. It runs completely on its own, and it really makes a difference in everyday operations.”
Lower operating costs

Casper elaborates:
“We experienced that limescale especially caused problems in toilet cisterns, washing machines, dishwashers, and particularly in the heat exchangers in the heating system. I hope the system will help us extend the lifespan of our appliances and reduce operating costs, so we won’t have to replace equipment as often. It’s also a big advantage to avoid issues like running toilets, where limescale can prevent the cistern components from closing properly.”
