Chemical-free limescale protection for large-scale needs

BIOCAT lime protection systems work with our patented technology based on nature's biomineralization and work without the use of salt. The cost-effective systems are suitable for residential complexes and apartment blocks, where the systems ensure high drinking water quality and energy efficiency through natural lime protection.

Maintenance-free systems with low operating costs
Regardless of water consumption, the systems are virtually maintenance-free for five years, after which the catalyst granulate is replaced. This means there is no need for technician assistance during operation. Similarly, there is no need to refill or store salt. The systems are made of stainless steel, gunmetal and other durable materials to ensure a long service life and low operating costs.

Wide range for all needs
BIOCAT systems take up very little space and are easy to integrate and handle. They are available in different capacities, with the largest sized for 1,136 homes or 250,000 l per day. The systems can also be connected in series to increase the daily capacity to very large systems.

In waterworks, for example, the largest standard system can handle up to 219,000 m3 per year - and this can be series-connected for even greater output.

In addition to large-scale solutions for housing complexes, BIOCAT systems are also used today in commercial and public buildings and the operation of photovoltaic systems.

Meets all standards
The chemical-free systems ensure the quality of the entire drinking water system and fulfil all technical and normative standards of any size. As an additional feature, the systems offer increased safety in the event of a power failure thanks to automatic bypass mode - and easy integration, efficient maintenance, and control through connection to the building management system.

Preserving healthy minerals and good flavor
BIOCAT systems are suitable for all water hardness levels and do not alter the quality and natural composition of the drinking water. The drinking water thus retains its healthy minerals and good flavor. With BIOCAT systems, no salt is discharged and there is no phosphate load in the wastewater.

The BIOCAT KS series is dimensioned up to 1,136 homes

The KS series provides effective limescale protection with systems dimensioned for 18 homes up to 1,136 homes - equivalent to approx. 250,000 l/day.

The systems can be connected in series and can therefore be customized for solutions with much higher daily flow rates, e.g. in residential complexes, hospitals, and industry.

The systems provide reliable protection for the entire drinking water installation and are also suitable for operating a photovoltaic system and/or a plate heat exchanger.

The KS series has its own built-in thermal disinfection without chemicals and all models fulfil the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance.

All systems are characterized by these benefits:

Low annual operating costs
Easy installation
Uncomplicated and reliable operation
Minimal maintenance (every five years the granulate is replaced)
No chemicals
These KS series systems are additionally DVGW-certified regarding hygiene and proven limescale protection:

KS 3000, KS 4000, KS 5000-S, KS 5500-S, KS 6500-S, KS 7000-S, KS 8000, KS 11000, KS 14000, KS 3.5D, KS 5D

Certified drinking water quality, material selection and effect

BIOCAT systems are a safe and durable solution for drinking water. They are tested and certified by independent bodies. DVGW certification documents function, quality and durability, while ÖVGW ensures high requirements for materials, hygiene and drinking water safety. Overall, this provides a reliable solution.

BIOCAT systems are chemical-free because the process in a BIOCAT system works without the addition of salt and phosphates.

The great advantage of chemical-free water treatment is that the wastewater from a BIOCAT system is completely clean drinking water - a BIOCAT system does not release any harmful substances into the environment. A side benefit of chemical-free water treatment is that much less rinse water is required than with other water treatment methods.

When lime changes its properties, it means that the lime loses its ability to adhere to surfaces and form deposits.

Calcium, which is primarily made up of minerals such as calcium carbonate, is especially important for building teeth and bones. Calcium is also important for a number of other bodily processes, and it's a good idea to include calcium-rich foods in your diet and maintain calcium in your drinking water.

Taste is subjective, but the calcium in drinking water helps to give it a natural flavour. When cooking or brewing coffee, the minerals in the lime are also essential flavour carriers. Many people believe that removing the lime gives the water a soapy or flat flavor.

Biomineralization is the process by which living organisms produce their inorganic components such as shells, tooth enamel and bones. Several biominerals are known, of which calcium carbonate (CaCO3) is the most common. It is found in seashells - and is one of the building blocks of the patented WATERCryst catalyst technology.

A 550-million-year-old method

Fossil evidence shows that organisms that use biomineralization to form skeletons, for example, have existed in the oceans for at least 550 million years. In other words: BIOCAT plants utilize a highly proven and successful process.

Hardness is defined as the total dissolved calcium and magnesium content of the water - and is dependent on the type of water in the subsoil where each waterworks extracts water.

In general, the water is hardest on Zealand, Falster, Lolland, Møn and Funen. Jutland has the most soft and medium-hard water, but there are also areas where the water is hard in the western part of Denmark.

High calcium content in the water can lead to calcified pipes, frequent repairs to household appliances, extra cleaning and higher heating bills.
